Skillset MCP

Updated 4 days ago

Connect Claude and other MCP clients to Skillset to work with tickets and knowledge articles from a chat or coding session.

Server details

SettingValue
Server URLhttps://app.skillset.co/api/v1/mcp
TransportStreamable HTTP
AuthenticationOAuth 2.1 in the browser; clients register automatically
AccessYour Skillset account, limited to the permissions you approve

Requirements:

  • A Skillset account that belongs to at least one workspace. Sign in at app.skillset.co and accept any pending invitation first.
  • An MCP client that supports remote HTTP servers with OAuth.

Connect your client

Claude Code

Register the server:

claude mcp add --transport http skillset https://app.skillset.co/api/v1/mcp

Then start Claude Code, run /mcp, select skillset, and finish signing in in the browser window that opens.

More options: Claude Code MCP documentation.

Claude desktop and claude.ai

  1. Go to Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Enter Skillset as the name and the server URL above.
  3. Select Connect and finish signing in in the browser.

Note: On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an owner may need to allow custom connectors before members can add one. See custom connectors in Claude.

Other clients

Add a remote server with the URL https://app.skillset.co/api/v1/mcp. You do not need a client ID, client secret, or API key; the client registers itself during the first sign-in.

Authorization

The first time the client calls Skillset:

  1. The client opens a Skillset sign-in page in your browser.
  2. You sign in with your Skillset account.
  3. You review the requested permissions and approve them.
  4. The client stores the resulting token and renews it automatically.
ScopeGrants
knowledge:readSearch and read knowledge articles
tickets:readList and read tickets
tickets:writeCreate and update tickets
tickets:deleteDelete tickets

Note: Every call is checked against both the approved scopes and your current role in the workspace. Scopes never add access your account does not already have, and tickets:write does not include tickets:read.

Tools

Every tool except contexts_list takes a tenant_id and a workspace_slug. Get both from contexts_list first; most clients do this on their own.

ToolDescriptionTry asking
contexts_listOrganizations and workspaces you can access"Which Skillset workspaces do I have?"

Tickets

ToolDescriptionTry asking
tickets_listList tickets, newest first, filtered by status, priority, or text q"Show high-priority tickets in IT Support"

Knowledge access is read-only. tickets_create requires the workspace to accept API tickets; see Limits below.
